Level 3 BTEC – Business
This course is ideal for students with a real interest in business. It is suitable for students who prefer prefer their assessment to be via coursework rather than examined. It is a practical course and allows you to develop a range of core business skills.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You study many of the aspects of running a business successfully, therefore this course is very beneļ¬cial for students wishing to pursue a career in business. There are 18 units throughout the course, 9 units each year, of which 4 are mandatory. They include:
- Unit 1 ā The Business Environment
- Unit 2 ā Business Resources
- Unit 3 ā Introduction to Marketing
- Unit 4 ā Business Communication
In Year 1, you will focus on Marketing, self-development, accounting and ethics. In Year 2, options can include starting your own business, HR and economics
There are trips to a number of businesses in Greater Manchester, such as BT Bootcamp, the Etihad Stadium, Co-Op and DWF.
All units are assessed internally via coursework. You will achieve a grade for each unit. These grades will then form your final overall grade, which is equivalent to 3 A-Levels.
FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
The course will equip you well to start a career in business where employers value both your actual learning and the degree of independent learning and problem solving ability you will have gained during the course. There are also a wide variety of business courses at university for which this course is a perfect foundation. This course is also ideal for progression onto a higher level apprenticeship such as Accounting, Business Administration and HR.
To study this programme you will need to achieve 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English and Maths. We would prefer that you have a GCSE or L2 BTEC in Business Studies.
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business
This is a linear course and will take two years to complete.
