Manchester’s new Gokickabout website will be launched tomorrow at the  ’City of Football Day’, taking place between 11am-3pm at Cathedral Gardens, Manchester.

Following months of campaigning by the ‘Back Our Bid’ team to ensure Manchester becomes the first, City of Football, the countdown to announce the winner draws closer.

Taken from the Manchester City Council Website:

‘The title City of Football will be awarded by Sport England, with the winning city receiving £1.6m in National Lottery Funding to spend on grass roots football over the next two years.
To showcase Manchester’s unrivalled love of the beautiful game Friday will official be City of Football Day, coinciding with the final visit of Sport England and Football Association judges before they make their decision.

Everyone in Manchester is invited to come down to Cathedral Gardens to help demonstrate just how deep our passion for football runs.
From 11am-3pm visitors to Cathedral Gardens will have the chance to take part in kick-about events and coaching and skills zones being run by Manchester FA, Manchester City and Manchester United football clubs. Professional football freestyle performers will also be showing off their skills. Key 103 will be entertaining visitors throughout the day with a selection of live performances and music. Members of Manchester City Women’s Super League Team will be in attendance raising the profile of women’s football in Manchester.

Manchester is one of three cities that have been shortlisted for the award, the winner of the title will be announced next week.’
