Welcome to the CSFC newsletter!
These half-termly newsletters will provide you with information about various projects within the college, as well as sharing all our successes.
Our first exciting news item has to be the incredible A-Level and BTEC results from our leavers. We achieved a 97% pass rate at A-level, with 75% A*-C. Our BTEC pass rate was 100%! We now rank within the top 10% in the country! So a massive congratulations to the cohort, and good luck with all your future endeavours.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new students. Congratulations on securing your place with us, we are very excited to have you all here! Also, welcome back to our second year students, we hope you enjoyed your summer break and are now ready to get back into the swing of working hard (and playing hard).
This half term will be exciting for you all, as you get to grips with your timetable and your new subjects. It is also a time where you will be meeting lots of new people and trying new things. A bit of advice would be to make sure you are friendly and talk to people. Don’t be shy! Also introduce yourself to staff members – we like to get to know our students, and we don’t bite!
At Connell, we are proud to offer a wide range of services for our students, to help you with anything you may need. Below is a list of some of our services, and how/when to access them.
- Exams: Talk to Julie in the exams office. She can help you with sorting out access arrangements, requesting remarks and resits, and organising exams for external candidates.
- IT Issues: Steve is your man for any computer-related problems, including forgotten passwords and logins.
- Careers Guidance: Talk to Maureen in the Library. She will support you in finding part-time jobs, writing personal statements and CVs. Alongside Josh, Maureen will be helping to organise work experience placements for all our year 12s, and with Catherine she will be supporting you to complete your UCAS applications. Maureen will also help you with anything related to university, including student finance and accommodation.
- Student Support: See Emma in the Student Support Office for any other support you may require. This includes timetabling issues, bursary enquiries, payments for trips, any worries you have about work/home life, and she can answer your general college-related questions. She also provides absence request forms and deals with attendance. Emma is able to direct you to a variety of other services, if you require specialist guidance/advice, so please go and see her if you have any issues, no matter how small.
Connell Golden Rule: If you need anything, ASK! Any one of our fabulous team of staff will be willing to listen to you and if they cannot help you personally, they will be able to find the person who can.
