The Connell Women’s First Team participated in two highly competitive leagues during this season. All them represented the college, the club and themselves in a professional manner, whilst playing some exciting and brilliant football in both the AoC College competition and the Community English Football League (CEFA)
They won their AoC women’s league this season, as well as beating Burton Albion in the regional final, leading them to represent the North in the National Finals against the regional southern champions.
On Thursday 6th June, the team played in a prestigious EFL National Cup final at the impressive Lilleshall sports centre. Their opponents, Norwich City, were playing for the South so it was a fierce competition by both teams to be crowned national champions! Our women played some fantastic football throughout the game and were worthy winners after 90 mins beating Norwich 2-0.
This means the Connell Women have won a domestic treble this season! It’s a wonderful achievement and a huge accomplishment of which they should all be extremely proud.
