On Tuesday 12th March at the University of Law in Manchester, we celebrated the graduation of our 2018 cohort of âCareer Readyâ students. It was an evening filled with immense pride as we celebrated the achievements of our inspiring and success-driven young people. Following the introductory speeches from the Career Ready regional managers, we were visually reminded of the high points of their journey, from their humble beginnings to  where they are today. They have engaged with all that the programme offers from internships & employer insight events , to masterclasses and engaging with their mentors.
The highlight of the evening , and one which filled the room with complete admiration, was the presentation from our very own, Angel Maynard. Through her steely determination and self-motivation, she went above and beyond all expectations to win the coveted title of âCareer Ready Regional Student of the Year for the Northwest & Walesâ an amazing feat from a young lady who had begun the programme with very little interest in construction. She acknowledged that she had pushed herself out of her comfort zone and that the experiences, skills & knowledge gained throughout ,had made it an amazing personal journey.  The programme truly changed her perceptions of the construction industry and has now inspired her to apply for a Degree-level Apprenticeship with Kier! She said âMy journey isnât over because the programme has endedâŠ. it has only just begun!â Angel has now been nominated for the National Award and will be attending the awards event in London on 2nd April. We wish all of our graduating students the very best wishes as they continue on their individual career pathways ,and we congratulate them all on their remarkable successes.
